When activated, ORANGE ALERT uses e-mail, text messaging and cell/landline phone calls to send a brief notice about the situation and instructions of what to do.

Blue Light System, Safety Escort Program & LiveSafe App

If you feel unsafe or unwell at any time, you can utilize the Blue Light System on campus. The Blue Light System is a series of emergency alarm stations strategically located throughout the campus to provide assistance to anyone in distress. A blue beacon is positioned above each alarm station. When an individual presses the alarm button, they can communicate directly with the communications center at the Department of Public Safety, to notify the dispatcher of the emergency.

The Department of Public Safety also instills a Safety Escort Program. Walking Escorts are provided from academic buildings to residence halls or parking facilities, and vice versa.

It is recommended that your student downloads the Rave Guardian app. This app enables you to communicate with DPS, share your location in the event of an emergency, and let your friends know you’ve safely made it home.
