Congratulations and welcome to Summer College – Online! If you were admitted into Summer College – Online, you must complete the seven steps below to ensure a smooth transition to the online classroom environment and virtual community.

1. Reserve Your Seat

In order to secure your seat in a Summer College course, a $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 7 days of the acceptance letter being sent to you (via email). If you do not wish to accept your offer, please let us know via email so we can offer your seat to a waitlisted student.

If you are a sponsored student, you do not need to pay the $500 deposit. You will need to complete the Admit Acceptance Form found in your Application Student Portal to confirm your intention to attend Summer College. This form is due within one week of receiving your letter of admission.

Once you confirm your attendance and/or pay your deposit, requests to change/switch courses will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact the Office of Pre-College Programs if you have questions.

In the rare event that a course must be cancelled, the student may choose a different course to attend or receive a full refund.

2. View the Technology, Textbook and Supply Requirements

Make sure to set up the general required technology before you start your online course. You will need:

  • Access to a computer or laptop with webcam
  • Reliable internet access
  • A space conducive to taking an online class (without distractions)

Many courses have textbook and supply requirements. Most course textbooks and supplies can be purchased via the Syracuse University Campus Store.

3. Submit Required Forms

In order to obtain access to course materials, all students and their parents or guardians must complete the Policies and Procedures Form. Using the computer mouse as if it were a writing instrument, sign your name. If you have any problems accessing or signing the form, please contact our office at The button below will take you to the form. The Policies and Procedures Form is due 30 days prior to your first synchronous class meeting.

All required forms are officially live! All forms can be accessed through the application portal.

4. Activate Your NetID

For example, if you paid your deposit or confirmed your attendance on March 1, you will not be able to activate your NetID until at least March 21 (14 business days later).

Your NetID allows you to access your Syracuse University email address. Your program instructors will only be able to email you using your email address, so don’t forget to check it often. Your NetID also gives you access to the many online resources available to all Syracuse University students.
