Orange ALERT
Orange ALERT is Syracuse University’s crisis notification system, designed to provide rapid notification and instruction to SU students, faculty and staff, and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry students in the event of a crisis in progress — an instance in which there is immediate threat of physical harm to members of the campus community.
When activated, ORANGE ALERT uses e-mail, text messaging and cell/landline phone calls to send a brief notice about the situation and instructions of what to do.
Blue Light System & Orange Safe App
If you feel unsafe or unwell at any time, you can utilize the Blue Light System on campus. The Blue Light System is a series of emergency alarm stations strategically located throughout the campus to provide assistance to anyone in distress. A blue beacon is positioned above each alarm station. When an individual presses the alarm button, they can communicate directly with the communications center at the Department of Public Safety, to notify the dispatcher of the emergency.
It is recommended that your student downloads the Orange Safe app. This app enables you to communicate with DPS, share your location in the event of an emergency, and let your friends know you’ve safely made it home.
Additional Care
Syracuse University is located in proximity to several major hospitals and after-hours centers that are within walking distance.

You may also contact the emergency room of your choosing to determine if they accept your insurance.
