Independence Day Activities
Students do not have class on Tuesday, July 4 as it is an observed holiday at Syracuse University. Students will have the opportunity to partake in exciting activities on the Quad on July 4.
Summer Movie Nights
Movies on the Quad: Watch a recently released movie on the Shaw Quadrangle. Bring a chair or blanket and watch a movie on the blow-up screen! Alternative location is inside at HBC Gifford.
Late Night “Dive In” at the Barnes Center Pool: Bring your swimsuits and watch a recently released movie in the pool at the Barnes Center!
Syracuse University Campus Tours
Summer College – On Campus students! Syracuse University has a lot to offer and we’ve designed a tour that will help you learn more about us. Learn about applying to Syracuse University, academic opportunities, campus life, and the experience of being a full-time undergraduate student. Current students will be on hand, as well as an admissions representative who can answering your questions.
College Preparation Workshop
The college preparation workshops are designed to help students prepare for their college application processes. Students will have the opportunity to attend two separate sessions as well as connect with Syracuse University Admissions Representatives.
Barnes Center at The Arch
The staff at the Barnes Center at The Arch encourages you to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle throughout the summer, and will assist you in this effort. We hope that you will take advantage of the various facilities provided for you to make that effort to get-in or stay-in shape, be mindful, or simply enjoy recreation with your friends. The Barnes Center at The Arch offers a variety of resources and services to meet the unique needs of your health and wellness journey. From climbing, to swimming, and exercising with state-of-the-art equipment, the selections and variety available are here to help you Be Active.
Office of Student Living Activities
The Office of Student Living will coordinate residence life events in your residence hall. Floor events are common. There is typically something happening every night! Events may include:
- Ice Cream Socials
- Talent Shows
- Pinterest Parties
- Paint Night
- Trivia Nights
Board games are also available for rental at the main desk. Some resident halls have gaming systems and may offer a foosball or a pool table as well.
Additional Things to Do Off-Campus
Syracuse University is located in the heart of the city of Syracuse. It’s a city with a rich history and vibrant culture that offers a wide array of entertainment, art museums, shopping, and restaurants. Upstate New York is famous for its beautiful summers. From the numerous Erie Canal parks that dot the east-west route of the historic canal to the gorgeous lakes and scenic state parks, there are many areas to explore the great outdoors. Students must also sign out at the residence hall main desk when leaving campus.
